Holiday Season is a time for Reflection and Giving

As we approach the end of this year, we reflect on the past year with much admiration. 2012 was an extremely memorable year, partly because of the Olympic and Paralympics Games in London. This was a spectacular international event, in the spirit of sport and competition and in the role it plays in providing heroes for our children to look up to.

The Olympics was more than the competition of sport. I was also about the display courage, hard work, determination, perseverance and goodwill. All of these characteristics are well rooted in our local schools and in the interschool competition between them. School spirit can be as powerful for your neighbourhood as the Olympic spirit is on the world stage.

The holiday season is about being thankful and the spirit of giving. Many charities come to mind at this time of year, all of which do great work in making our world a better place for all. We should not forget about our local schools, they also do great work. Our schools are the backbone of our society, this is where young talent can flourish if properly guided and funded. They are our future. Consider investing in our children by donating to your local schools. The Scholmark Foundation supports schools across Canada; it helps all Canadians to make their mark on Education. On behalf of Scholmark, we wish you and your families the best for the holidays and the New Year.

Thank you for supporting Education in Canada.
